Are you searching for a telemarketing service? When outsourcing, it is important to find a vendor that is the right fit for your campaign. If you are looking for telemarketing services for your campaign, then you should look for a provider with experience and staff that will perform in a suitable fashion.

Those who do not have experience in telemarketing may think it is a straightforward affair. Meaning the endeavor requires voices on the phone and there are not many attributes to consider otherwise.

Those of us who have worked in telemarketing and have experience in the industry know better.

What do you want of the telemarketers?

Consider the following questions:

- What level of experience do they need to conduct your campaign successfully?
- Do they need experience working with certain programs or equipment?
- Will they need additional training or do they need to be hired ready to go?
- Do you require any prerequisites?
- Will their job involve problem solving or troubleshooting?
- What levels of understanding do they need to have regarding your products or services?

What attributes do you want the employees of your telemarketing service to possess?
Here are a few that most will agree upon:

- Compassionate
- Motivated
- Conscientious
- Positive
- Quick learner
- Experienced

Finding your team
Consider where you will recruit your in-house team or where your outsourced telemarketing service finds their employees. Some companies will attempt to recruit under the appellation of ‘telemarketer.’ This is not a mistake, but they may be missing other potential.

Consider people who have worked in customer service jobs before and behold all of the right attributes, but have never worked as a telemarketer in the past. You could find potential candidates from restaurants, food markets, theaters, etc.

Recruiting
For most jobs, candidates submit a resume, and then wait for a response. For telemarketing, the protocol could be different. Consider having candidates call a phone number with a message instructing them to leave their name, their number, and to take a couple minutes to explain why they would be a good candidate. The message can serve as a resume in itself.

Most likely, the candidates will tell of their experience and you will be able to hear them doing the job you want to hire them for – talking on the phone. You can gauge their level of confidence, clarity of speech, inflection of tone, etc. all due to their message.

You can use the phone messages as a first stage of interviewing. Potential candidates can then move on to a face-to-face interview.

Training
Good training is imperative for a successful telemarketing campaign. Great candidates still need to be molded and fed knowledge pertinent to your particular telemarketing endeavor.

They need to learn about your target market, your products and services, and the history and brand of your company. The more information they know before getting on the phones, the more confident they will be in their new job and in addressing your customers.
