Ideas are powerful entities, but they need to be materialized. They must come to fruition not just figuratively speaking, but in physical form. Documents are the physical forms of important ideas. Obviously, important documents need to be kept safe and secure throughout time. Since early civilizations, people have been finding ways to record their thoughts, but time has taken its toll on most relics.

In the present day, documents have become of vital importance (especially in business). What would happen if you lost, damaged, or altered an important document? The age of document scanning has relieved us of the anxiety created by the thought of important documents being met with disastrous fates.

The following article explores some important documents of the last half of the 20th century. These documents were defended from harm due to their importance, though created before the age of document scanning services. Now your meaningful articles can be preserved forever for your retrieval. Imagine what the world would be like if these documents were not composed and secured:

Test Ban Treaty of 1963
The end of WWII was marked by the release of two atomic bombs in August of 1945. The continuance of testing of atomic weapons raised much concern over the radioactive effects of these devices. As more intelligence upon the matter grew, so did the level of concern over the threat of global contamination. Beginning in May of 1955, it took eight years of active and persistent negotiations and immense public interest to come to a conclusion to ban nuclear weapons testing. The Test Ban Treaty was signed in Moscow on August 5, 1963. The treaty banished nuclear weapons tests "or any other nuclear explosion" in the atmosphere, in outer space, and underwater.

Official Program for the March on Washington 1963
The civil rights movement inspired changes in political, social, and legal strides in America towards Afro-Americans. The movements towards modifications involved boycotts, transgressions of segregation laws, and protest marches. On August 28, 1963, more than 250,000 demonstrators marched in Washington to take part in the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom." After a day filled of speeches, live performances, and several marched sites, then President, John F. Kennedy, conducted a meeting with the demonstration leaders. With less than two months to plan, Bayard Rustin organized one of the largest and most peaceful demonstrations in U.S. history.

Social Security Act Amendments 1965
The passing of the Social Security Act Amendments (Medicare) materialized in a basic program of hospital insurance for people aged 65 and older. It was funded based on taxes on the earnings of employees matched by contributions of the employers. In the first three years alone, 20 million beneficiaries enrolled in the program. By 1950, two-thirds of older Americans had incomes of less than $1,000 annually and only one in eight had health coverage. The rate of hospital care was rising 6.7 percent a year. In the summer of 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson decided to sign the bill with former President Harry Truman (due to his former efforts in coming to a conclusion to the problem).
