How is your link situation? Links are very important in the world of the Web. It is just as important to have quality outbound links as it is to have premier sites linking to your pages. Just how do you conduct a link campaign? Consulting an SEO service can be helpful in providing insight and in launching the campaign.

Depending on the size of your campaign, there are things that can be done "in-house." Search engines contribute a lot of credibility towards the amount and quality of your links. Links can be one-way or reciprocal. Ideally, you want to garner reciprocal links with highly-revered sites. Meaning that you link to their site and somewhere on their pages they have a link to your site.

How to catch a link
Reciprocal linking is advantageous in building your site, but a time consuming endeavor. It is best begun by perusing the Internet looking for relevant sites to foster a partnership with. Next, email each site's webmaster to ask if exchanging links is a possibility.

A more reputable site may not immediately be intrigued to exchange links. If they are playing "hard-to-get," try and offer to contribute to their content (such as providing an original article or testimonial) in order to make the deal seem more alluring to them.

For sites that oblige, it is good practice to add their links immediately and then send them an email to thank them along with the link to the page where you have referred to them.

More ways than one
One-way links can be achieved in several ways. Depending on the nature of your business, there will be directory sites that pertain to your industry. Some of these directory sites will provide links to your site for free and others will charge a fee to showcase your site. It is good practice to get into as many directories as possible because it will only increase the traffic to your site.

Press releases are also a good way to achieve in-bound links. If you have news about your business or industry, you can submit a press release to a site such as PR Web. This will get your site more exposure and provide you with some in-bound links.

Having current, creative, and useful content is the best way to attract links to your site. The better you can serve the general masses in providing information (including links to other sites), the better your chances that other sites will notice the resourcefulness of your site and refer to you via links (remember that your links can attract links).
